The 2022 Placement Map Has arrived!

The map is interactive. Zoom in and click on icons and camps to read their titles and descriptions. Icons stay the same size regardless of your zoom setting, so zooming in will make it clearer where the icons fall.

In the side bar you can toggle on and off what parts of the map are showing. Camping areas, departments, art, mobility motor co. stops, and bathrooms are all visible in the default view. Food/beverage, sound, and fire icons can be toggled on and off. All sound shares the same icon but the description will indicate the level of the sound (low, moderate, high).

*Note on Food and Beverages: If your camp plans to gift non-alcoholic beverages (mocktails, tea, coffee, etc). Please email placement and ASAP for to be added to the map. This option did not get added to the registration form so this information was not collected.

Theme Camps: You will receive an email with your space's measurements in the coming days.

Mobility and Accessibility: Some requested spots were at neighboring camps, so those camps will share a shuttle stop. If you need a stop and there is not one close enough to you on the map, please email mobility@mosaicexperiment.com.
Accessible portos are spread throughout the event. If you need one moved closer to your camp, please email placement@mosaicexperiment.com.

Updates/Changes: The map will be printed tomorrow. No changes will be able to be made to the printed map after that.
The map is subject to change if on-site conditions require. In the event of last minute map changes, the online version will be updated and the changes will be announced.

ONE WEEK AWAY!!!

We’re officially ONE WEEK away from Mosaic Experiment 2022: Off and On Again!

It’s been 3 years since we last welcomed you Home so as a reminder to you hardy veterans of the mud, and a primer to new burners, take a look at our Survival Guide, and FAQ… Some things have changed since last most of you read it.

Other pages that are worth a read before you arrive are our Vaccination Policy, our Code of Conduct, and our page for Weather Prep. It’s not nicknamed Mudsaic just to be cute, folks.

Finally, last but not least, if you’re completely unfamiliar with the culture of Burning Man, and you’ve no idea what’s going on, but your new group of friends somehow convinced you to buy a ticket to this, read up on the 10 Principles.

See you in the mud soon.

Needs Based Tickets Requests Re-Opening for a Limited Time!

Due to a surplus of remaining funds, the NBT program is RE-OPENING to a limited number of requests Tuesday 9/20 at NOON.

To make a request, fill out the NBT Request Form once it has re-opened. Requests will be met in the order they are received until remaining funds are utilized. We expect to be able to meet between 2-5 additional requests, depending on the level of funding requested.

If your request can be met, you will be notified ASAP and have THREE (3) hours to respond and accept your request. Emails from the NBT program will be sent between noon and 10pm Tuesday and Wednesday.

If you do not respond within three hours of receiving the offer it will move to the next request in line. Requests will be met in the order they are received.

Ticket sales end at midnight Wednesday, so all offers must be processed by then, hence the very short response timeline.

Out of the Mud - Episode Eight: The Final Countdown

As we count down the last remaining days before Mosaic Experiment 2022: Off and On Again, Out of the Mud continues to collapse further in on itself in this year's final episode.

Fighting the inevitable destruction of the Mudworks Studio by the wrathful Mud Gods, everyman and Corvus bring on our new Art Grant Leads, VeryKateri and Lost, as well as our new Consent Team Lead, Bunikat, to talk about something very important before we head back to Reclaim:

The defacement, vandalization, and theft of art.

Radical Self-Expression through art of all forms is what Mosaic Experiment was founded upon, and our community members spend countless hours pouring their heart and souls into the art they bring to our event. In light of some unfortunate instances that occurred the last time we burned in person, we want to make it very clear that any disrespect given to art pieces or the wishes of the artists that created them is a direct violation of consent and it will not be tolerated in our community.

Lost and VeryKateri talk about how they will be working with our Art Grant recipients, as well as any other artists bringing art installations, in order to provide signage to help communicate what is and is not acceptable in terms of the level of interactivity these pieces will have and Bunikat discusses the importance of both artists and participants communicating with each other in order to clarify expectations and set boundaries to be respected surrounding the art installations brought to the event.

Finally, Corvus returns from working on the effigy just in time for the entire podcast to be devoured completely by a supermassive blackhole; leaving no trace that it ever existed.

What happens when I make a consent report?

All reports move through the process outlined in the flowchart below.

Each situation is unique, and therefore the “next steps” section of the process is determined on a case-by-case basis.  Next steps may include simply listening to both sides and documenting, mediation, requesting extra efforts (such as taking a consent class), providing resources, working with the theme camp where the incident occurred, and/or advising the Event Leads in cases where ejection/banning is recommended.

The goal of this process is to create an opportunity for the community to respond and hold each other accountable when there are breakdowns in consent. Our intention is to avoid public shaming or punishment - instead, interventions will be aimed towards education and improved understanding among all involved. We are not professional mediators. We are burners helping burners be radically excellent to one another.

For a more information on the response process or to file an online report, check out the Consent Team contact page of our website.

What is the Consent Team?

The Consent Team is made up of two main parts: the Education Auxiliary and the Response Team.

The Education Auxiliary is a new branch of the consent team that will work year round to create a culture of consent at Mosaic Experiment.  On-site they work with greeters to enhance consent education as participants arrive, organize and run the consent workshop(s), and distribute consent literature and swag.  Off-site they use social media to engage the community in consent conversations and communicate important information regarding the consent team.

The Response Team collects information about consent incidents, maintains confidential records of all reports, and responds appropriately to each reported incident. The Response Team takes reports from anyone, at any time through the Mosaic website. You can make a report online here

During the event there is always a member of the Response Team "on call" and team members will also be available for casual conversations about consent. If you are in need of help from the Response Team you can ask a ranger or anyone with a radio to contact the “on call” team member for you.  You may also submit a written report to the consent report drop box located at the first aid station, which will be checked twice daily.
